Meals

Three sattvic meals a day on campus — cooked in the same building as your classes.

Three meals a day are included. The kitchen cooks sattvic food: vegetarian, no onion or garlic, with fruit, grains, vegetables, and some dairy such as paneer. That is the standard school diet for this course — it keeps digestion lighter on long practice days.

Breakfast is after the morning asana class; lunch and dinner are on campus. Tell us about allergies when you book. These photos are from the Rishikesh dining hall, not a stock library.

Who this course is for

Who can join this 200 hour YTT Rishikesh

Ashtanga practice by the Ganga

This course is built for beginner to intermediate students. You do not need teaching experience. A regular yoga practice helps.

It is an intense residential month, not a holiday. Classes typically run from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, with meal and rest breaks in between. Most days have six to seven classes — asana, breath, theory, and teaching practice. If a full month is too much, look at the 12-day 100 hour YTT in Rishikesh on the same campus.

It is a fit if you can live on campus for 25 days and stay with that timetable.

Prerequisites

You need to show up every day for asana, meditation, and lectures. Teaching experience is not required.

After you finish

After this course: teaching and RYT 200

After you complete this 200-hour and register with Yoga Alliance as RYT 200, you are eligible to teach. Studios and retreats that follow Yoga Alliance look for that listing.

Eligible is not the same as ready. Plan about six months of your own practice after the course before you take a full teaching load.

With the RYT 200 registration, graduates typically:

  • Teach drop-in classes at a studio or gym
  • Teach a subject on a yoga teacher training, or assist at a yoga school
  • Organise retreats, or work at a retreat centre
  • Open their own retreat centre over time
  • Apply later to run a Yoga Alliance registered school

The certificate is a teaching credential recognised worldwide. It is not a work visa and not a guaranteed job. Pay depends on the city and the hours you actually teach. After this, the 300-hour advanced course is the next step if you want to go deeper. If you would rather take both months in one stay, see the 500 hour ytt in Rishikesh.
